New Year, New Changes
A lot of changes have been happening with Family Guidance Center since the new year. We have been busy jumping right into our work and growing our agency. We wanted to update you on what has been happening and our plans for the future. Our agency is shaking things up and we are ready to face this new year head on.
As many of you know Ann Peele, Executive Director has retired. She was with the agency for over forty years. She is deeply loved and missed. Ann has always been the backbone to this agency and we hope to make her proud. LaWanda Brown has been working as Interim Director since January 1, 2019. She has been with the agency for fifteen years as the court advocate. She is a intelligent, hard-working person and truly cares about the community. She wants to see the agency push the boundaries and see what more we can offer our community.
The Family Guidance Center Board of Directors announced at their February 28th board meeting that the search committee for a new Executive Director has completed their task. After interviewing several qualified applicants, the committee has offered LaWanda Brown, Interim Director, the job of continuing as the permanent Executive Director. LaWanda Brown has accepted the position.
As an agency, we will be embarking on many new fundraising projects.. So keep an eye out for more fundraising and volunteer opportunities.
We have a new Volunteer Coordinator. Her name is K’leigh Mayer. She will be managing the volunteer activities of the agency. As an agency, we depend on volunteers for a wide variety of reasons, but mainly because we can’t do it alone. We need our volunteers to help us go that extra mile, so we can reach those in need. If you would like to be a part of our volunteer community please contact her at email@example.com. K’leigh is also working on our internet presence. She is working hard on social media platforms to get our services and opportunities out into the community. She is working closely with Aaron Ballengee, Personal Touch Web Designs to keep the website updated so our loyal donors and supporters can be up to date on what our agency is doing.
New programs are being added to Consumer Credit Counseling Services department. They are starting the Debt Management (Consolidation) Program. We are excited to be able to provide this valuable service to debt ridden families in our community.
We also want to take this time to thank our clients, donors, and community for allowing us to keep our doors open for sixty years. We are very grateful for the support you all have given us, so we can give back to the community. We want to applaud those giving hearts because we wouldn’t be here without you. We look forward to the future to see what more we can within our agency to better our community.
